Why we built this
Getting a document notarized in Ontario should not mean guessing at fees or driving across the city during business hours. We built a clear path to online and in-person notarization so that affidavits, statutory declarations, certified true copies, and Will & POA signings can be handled with confidence — from anywhere in the province.
Every service explains what it is, what you need to bring, and exactly what it costs with 13% HST calculated up front. Sessions are intended to be presided over by licensed Ontario lawyers and authorized Commissioners for Taking Affidavits.
What working with us actually looks like
Most people who come to us have never had a document notarized before, and they’re usually a little anxious about getting it wrong. That’s normal. The receiving institution — a bank, a court, a university, a visa office — has told you a document needs to be notarized or commissioned, and you just want it done properly so it isn’t bounced back.
Our job is narrow and specific: we confirm who you are, make sure you understand what you’re signing, watch you sign it, and apply the oath, signature and seal. We don’t draft your document or tell you what it should say — that’s either up to you or to your own lawyer. If a document isn’t something we can help with, we’ll say so plainly rather than take it on.
The two things that slow appointments down are almost always the same: a document that’s already been signed, and ID that doesn’t match the name on the document. Come with it unsigned and bring ID in your current legal name, and most appointments are finished in well under fifteen minutes.
Straight answers to things people ask us
“Can you just do it online?”
Often, yes — oaths, affirmations and statutory declarations can usually be done by video. But some documents need a physical original in the room (certified copies) or a witnessed wet-ink signature (Wills, powers of attorney). We'll tell you which camp yours falls into before you book.
“Will this actually be accepted?”
Whether a document is accepted is always up to whoever asked for it — a court, a government office or an institution. If they have a specific format or wording requirement, tell us up front; it's far easier to get it right the first time than to redo it.
“Is this legal advice?”
No. Commissioning and notarizing a document is not the same as advising you on it. If your situation needs legal advice — what to put in a separation agreement, whether a POA is the right tool — that's a conversation for a lawyer retained for that purpose.
